Pioneering Engineering: Nuutro Partners with NoPalm Ingredients for Revolutionary Fermentation-Based Oil Production

At Nuutro Process Technology we are proud to announce a major milestone in our journey: partnering with NoPalm Ingredients for the basic engineering study of their first demonstration plant. This facility will be the first of its kind, using a fermentation process to produce significant volumes of food-grade oil, providing a sustainable alternative to palm and other tropical oils for the food and personal care industry.

NoPalm Ingredients: Rethinking Palm Oil Supply

Palm oil is a crucial ingredient in the global food industry, but its production comes with environmental challenges. NoPalm Ingredients is not competing with traditional palm oil but rather offering an alternative to meet the growing demand more sustainably. Their fermentation-based oil production can significantly reduce the environmental footprint associated with deforestation, biodiversity loss, and carbon emissions linked to palm oil production.

A Project Like No Other

Nuutro’s role in this project is extensive:

➡️ Designing the process from raw material intake to downstream processing and utilities.

➡️ Ensuring seamless process integration for optimal efficiency.

➡️ Identifying and mitigating technical and operational risks.

This is our largest engineering assignment to date, solidifying our position as a strong competitor against much larger engineering firms.

Why NoPalm Ingredients Chose Nuutro Process Technology

According to NoPalm Ingredients:

“The fact that Nuutro is able to do both engineering as well as execute the actual construction is very valuable in our industry. The project itself is challenging enough, so we need a professional partner alongside us that has strong visibility and understanding of how a process design can be constructed and will be operated in practice. A partner that can take on project responsibilities that are simply too high risk for a startup.” – Jeroen Blansjaar (COO – NoPalm Ingredients)

Key reasons for this partnership include:

Practical expertise – Unlike larger engineering firms, we combine engineering, manufacturing, and commissioning under one roof, ensuring seamless project execution.

Risk management – Start-up’s require partners who can identify and mitigate risks early. Our extensive experience in process engineering allows us to de-risk projects efficiently.

End-to-end process responsibility – Our ability to extend our responsibilities beyond traditional engineering contracts makes us a perfect fit for complex food-tech projects.

Tailored approach – Our compact, flexible, and food-industry-focused team ensures efficient and effective engineering, essential for startups scaling up.

A Step Towards a Sustainable Future

This collaboration is about more than just engineering – it’s about shaping the future of sustainable oil production. As demand for palm oil alternatives grows, NoPalm Ingredients is pioneering a scalable and innovative solution, and we are honored to be their partner in bringing this vision to reality.
